The Weekend...
We had a great weekend although I didn't really do much.
I didn't get half the important things done that I had planned...
But I did get my outline for the upcoming Ecclesiastes study done (what was I thinking???)
And I got the reservations made for Stacie's birthday trip.
The count-down has started! 4 more days and we will be headed to the gulf coast.
I feel a little bad, though, because when the kids found out this was to be a parents only trip, they were upset.
I don't feel that bad though for the following reason:
1 - the kids will be in good hands: they will spend Friday night with Kim and then alternate between grandparents until we return.
2 - they will quickly forget that mom and dad have gone to beach as they are spoiled beyond all belief... I predict new useless toys for both as well as mounds of unhealthy snack food consumed.
3 - any bad feelings not erased by 1 and 2 are totally obliterated by my dawning realization that this will be a vacation without Pizza parlors, video games, G-rated movies and go kart racing.
Not that there's anything wrong with those last things. Nor with family vacations. And I will miss my kids...
But sometimes mom and dad just need to get away for a few days. Besides, it will be Stacie's birthday and this is what she wants.

let's leave out the whole 'birthday' thing, shall we? let's just call it a much needed getaway for mom and dad!
On the other hand, if I were to forget your non-birthday, I would be in deep dookie. No?
