My Old School.

They are tearing down my old school. Well, actually Frankiln County High School still exists - in the new muli-ba-jillion dollar complex on 41A bypass.

The old Franklin County High School Building is being demolished then.

Here's a pic from just a few weeks ago:

And here's one I took today:

The main part of the building is almost completely gone, the classrooms, the gym, the auditorium, the cafeteria, all gone!

Ah, the memories...

By the way, the little white specks you see in the lower picture are SNOWFLAKES.

Yes, it's snowing here today.

So many memories are held in school and home buildings. I felt kind of sad when we sold my grandmothers house, after she passed away. I still drive by it and think it's weird that I can't go inside anymore!
Nice snow, i've heard of Franklin county before.

OK----My high school was called Frankin Academy, because my hometown was in Franklin County, NY.

Coincidence? Mayhaps...

Oh, and I am sure it's snowing back there too---it always is.

this is really sad...I can understand how it feels...I felt the same when they pulled down our home and now there stands a working women's hostel over the ground!
I hardly visit my hometown now, our new home, although fitted with all the modern comforts, does not appeal enough to stay put for more than a couple of days in a year...
they even cut down the huge trees!and destroyed the rose garden!

Nashville is beautiful...I love the countryside..the car ride from Atlanta to Nashville really was a treat for my eyes..the babbling brooks and the meadows, the lakes etc. Also, I love country music.

They tore down my primary school and turned it into a "fine estate of homes". I drove there once but it was weird - I felt like a trespasser.
I like the snowflakes - that's something I've never seen at a school I've attended - either as a student or as a teacher.

Ladies, thank you for the comments. All ladies though... did I inadvertantly tap into my feminine side with this post?

Carmel, other than my blog, where have you heard of Franklin County before???

Susan, INCREDIBLE, these coincidences! We both got glasses in, what was it, sixth grade, we're both from Franklin County and the two of us comprise exactly 50% of bloggers who list 'root vegetables' as interests in their Blogger profiles. Truly amazing I say!

Stacie, I didn't mean to exclude you - it WAS your High School too.

Dizzy, I didn't realize you were familiar with the mid-south U.S. Tell me more!

Carolanne, I guess this is a common experience as we get ol... never mind.

On to snow, then - it only snows a few times per year here. Yesterday was the first of the season but it was really sad. It 'snowed' for about a half hour and, though the flakes were HUGE, they instantly melted because the ground was too warm. We rarely have a winter wonderland scene here. It's either mild/cool or ice-covered lockdown!
