Ese es un pollo loco!
The teeming metropolis that is my hometown has several claims to fame:
Four Governors of Tennessee were born in or resided here,
Both David Crockett and Andrew Jackson once lived in the area,
Three natives have been honored by the British crown, most notably Sir John Templeton,
And my little town is the birthplace of both Dinah Shore and University of Tennessee head football coach Phillip Fulmer.
In addition to all that, we are distinguished by having the greatest number of authentic ethnic restaurants of any town its size north of Brownsville, TX.
I completely made up that last statistic but not the others.
We do seem to have an inordinate amount of such restaurants, though - mainly Chinese and Mexican. And that's fine with me. I like the food, I like the people who operate them and it gives me an excuse to talk to my kids about cultural diversity, tolerance and the real meaning of John 3:16.
One such establishment's recent attempt at an advertising gimmick caused us to do a double-take. This is the sight we beheld as we cruised through 'downtown' Winchester:
No, you're not seeing things. That is a giant plastic rooster standing on a trailer in front of 'Buen Dia Mex Grill'.
I'm not sure why this is so funny but the entire family broke down in a fit of uncontrollable giggles.
Enjoy!

So now I know who to blame for Phil Fulmer!!!!
Go Gators!
Just curious...but who, um, took that hilarious photo?
Four governors, two American icons, a billionaire knight, and a beloved American entertainer - then the Rev. Punk just has to pick up on coach Porky Pig!
No, LP, you cannot blame me for Fulmer for the following reasons: I am much younger, I am much thinner and I can coach football a lot better.
Can I blame you for coach Steve Spurious?
Go Vols:)
SuperGirl: I took that picture while driving along Dinah Shore Blvd. at 45, er, 30 mph, thank you!
When the trailer is on the road, is the Giant Rooster "poultry in motion?"
I think the Ole Ball Coach is from Tennessee as well.
If you ever make to the Atlanta area, you have to travel to Marietta to see the famous "Big Chicken." You guys will crack up when you see it.
Now, the real question is this: has anyone tried to hitch the trailer and steal the chicken? That would be comedy!
Mark, That's good: 'poultry in motion' - Ha! By the way, plastic chicken doesn't make good barbeque either!
LutherPunk, I was hoping you wouldn't remember SS's VOLUNTEER roots. I now wish I hadn't mentioned him.
As far as stealing the chicken goes, if you look very closely at the pic you can just see a chain padlocked around the axle of the trailer. You know what that means...
Yes, someone has tried.
